Quorum Sensing in Oral Biofilms: Influence on Host Cells

چکیده

Quorum sensing molecules (QSMs) in the oral cavity regulate biofilm formation, acquisition of iron, stress responses, and expression virulence factors. However, knowledge direct QSM–host interactions environment is limited, although their understanding could provide greater insight into cross-kingdom communication occurring during disease development. This review aims to explore literature on highlight areas advancement this field. The studies included encompass an array cell types QSMs, with particular emphasis immune cells relationship periodontal diseases. It can be inferred from current that QSMs are utilised by host detect bacterial presence and, majority cases, elicit response towards environmental QSMs. may a base target as novel treatment N-acyl homoserine lactone (AHL) detection methods remain area for development, through which influence achieved.
